Pest Prevention Tips

This is a list of safe and environmentally responsible techniques to help control pests and wildlife in your home.

Pest Control: Basic Tips to Reduce or Eliminate Pests in Your Home
  1. Keep bushes, trees and other plants trimmed back from your home. Insects and rodents often use these plants as "highways" to gain access to your home, business, or commercial structure. Plants and trees can also be hard on roofs and siding.
  2. Do not allow wood to come in contact with soil around your home or business. Nature is very powerful, and its job is to turn that wood into mush with the help of wood destroying insects! Keeping the wood away from the dirt will detract wood destroying pests from doing their job.
  3. Keep all doors and windows without screens closed at all times, including garage doors. Rats and mice often forage during the day. Avoid giving them an open invitation into your home or business. Additionally, raccoons and bats can cause problems at night.
